Are you teaching or preparing students for IB Diploma or AP courses? How can we help our intermediate med (based on ACTFL Proficiency Guideline) students to communicate slightly beyond the basic messages and familiar topics of daily life? The higher order discussion techniques I am sharing are the discussions of a specific topic or the contents usually follow a movie talk, watching a movie or reading. This session will demonstrate how students can express higher order concept with simple language. The strategies include helping students' output by asking the questions that will prompt them to think further or respond with more details; using the concept map to help students' logic thinking and organization; activating their cultural understanding and knowledge in other areas to generate more ideas.
