Building Your Own Personalized Style of Creating Killer Personalized Stories - Experienced Strand
There are 3 ways to gather personalized information in class: 1. Clever student interest inventories and questions throughout the year; 2. Various PQA techniques, gradually getting to know each student; 3. Standing at the door, attending sporting events, spying on their social media accounts. Once you have collected it, though, what do you do with it? There are two ways to apply personalization: 1. Write it in advance, incorporating personalized information and then ask it in class. 2. Ask the story in class, spin it "on your feet" and write the "Home Run" afterward. Personalize personalization to your own natural abilities and talents. Combine whichever strategies work for you and leave with new, applicable skills.

Learn how to interview students at any level in the TL and keep the mojo going all year long, increasing the complexity as students grow and helping them to learn real facts about one another with real language. "You're going to love this class. We all know each other and we all get along." That is how a transfer student was talked to by a classmate as they left class on her first day. That kind of camaraderie is built by impactful activities and ongoing personal interviews--all in the TL. Low Budget Filmmaking with Sr. Wooly Part 1
Join Sr. Wooly as he demystifies low-budget filmmaking for teachers. Sr. Wooly (Jim Wooldridge) starting making short films with a cheap videocamera, and no training or budget. Although he later graduated to more complex projects, the simple tricks he used to make videos like ¿Puedo ir al baño? and Guapo can be achieved by any teacher. In this session, Wooldridge will teach practical tips for filmmaking that will drastically increase the quality of your videos. No, this isn’t film school, but it’s the closest you can get in a 4-hour session. No experience is necessary. However, you should come with a device for recording some practice shots. A smartphone is recommended. This is a hands-on session, and you will do lots of filming.NOTE: Although Wooldridge will give some brief editing tips, this session will not teach you how to edit.

Low Budget Filmmaking with Sr. Wooly Part 2
