Circling: How do I know if I'm circling too much or not enough?
A key to effective circling is to understand the purposes behind circling. In this session you will learn the thought process to help you better understand how much you need to circle. As you better understand the process and observe your students cues and language development, then your TPRS classes will be that much closer to being exactly what you want, a language rich environment for your students' language development.

How Do I Explain Grammar in a TPRS Classroom?
What do the WL acquisition experts say about the effectiveness of teaching grammar explicitly? What is the difference between Focus on Form and Grammar Teaching? Is there a consensus on the necessity or effectiveness of teaching grammar? See examples of Recasts, Pop-up grammar, 15-Second Grammar Lessons, Contrastive Grammar, and Color Coding to use during storytelling and reading. Use non-threatening language to explain grammar topics. Practice these techniques in the languages you teach. Discuss and practice the various ways to teach different perspectives and tenses. Where do verifying details and retells come in? How do you differentiate grammar teaching for the varying levels of ability and readiness in your classroom? How do you guarantee success for each student in your class. What are your beliefs regarding the role of teaching grammar in the WL classroom?
